Technical Assistance

The Waterford CEB recognises that in order to offer a fully comprehensive range of supports to small businesses, provision must be made to cater for specialist and customised support to meet client needs.  We make available the following forms of technical assistance:

Specialist Training Assistance – (subject to qualifying limits) where a promoter may need to access specific training - in particular to establish appropriate records or management information systems - where FAS and/or other State assistance is not available

Trade Fairs Assistance – (subject to qualifying limits) to enable small producers to attend and/or exhibit at trade fairs to market their goods and services outside of the County.  The Board will also consider support to business networks in hosting business conferences/seminars for their members

Market Visits – (subject to qualifying limits) to enable promoters to travel abroad specifically for the purpose of making contact with new customers and/or suppliers, in particular within the Euro zone

eCommerce Grants – (subject to qualifying limits) to enable promoters to initiate and enhance their ebusiness capability. The grant specifically excludes the development of 'brochure-ware' only on websites, but can include for example, the costs of adding an online purchasing facility

Marketing Assistance – (subject to qualifying limits) to enable promoters to access graphic design and marketing expertise in producing marketing material for their business. The grant specifically excludes printing costs associated with same

Specialist Software – assistance to purchase specialist software which will enable the promoter to carry on their core business to a max of 50% or €2,000 whichever is the lesser.

Qualifying Limits
The Waterford CEB will provide the following rates of technical assistance.

In the case of Specialist Training, eCommerce and Marketing Assistance the following rates will apply:

• 50% of the costs of training, consultancy or design fees up to €1,350 per company on the basis of vouched receipts
• One company may only qualify for technical assistance once in any 12 month period

In the case of Trade Fairs and Market Visits Assistance, the following rates will apply:

• 50% of costs of attendance including associated air, sea or rail travel in respect of up to two people within the company on the basis of vouched receipts
• €50.00 per overnight stay by means of contribution towards subsistence costs in respect of up to 2 people associated with the company, up to a maximum of 5 nights per person
• Maximum technical assistance will not exceed a total of €1,350 per company.  One company may only qualify for technical assistance once in any 12 month period.
